Since Tomer started his business four years ago, he has relied on UPS to help him transport designs, fabric and clothing around the world. “When we’re creating a collection, we ship almost daily, and every shipment is critical to getting the job done.” Behind the Seams Before Tomer makes his first sketch, he searches out unique fabrics and trims, such as cashmere blends from Italy, high-tech fabrics from Switzerland and buttons from China. After creating his designs, he orders and ships enough thread, fabric and trim to create samples, which he shows to fashion buyers in New York. These often are shipped back and forth several times from manufacturers in Italy, New York City or China until the look is perfected. Tomer works with the buyers to decide what pieces will be sold in stores. Then, Tomer and his staff figure out how much fabric is needed to fulfill orders. The production process moves on to a grading company, which tailors patterns to make the clothing line in multiple sizes. UPS ships the patterns, fabric and trim to New York and Italy, where tailors make the clothes. But it takes more than shipping to make sure the clothes arrive on time. UPS’s customs brokers take care of complex textile tariffs so that all of Tomer’s pieces clear inspections seamlessly. After the clothes are made, they are shipped to Tomer’s New York showroom for painstaking quality inspections. Finally, the clothing is shipped to stores across the country and around the world. If Tomer’s collection arrives even one day late, stores have the right to cancel the order, leaving him with thousands of dollars’ worth of garments that can’t be sold. On the other hand, delivering on time ultimately wins more business. “Being on time earns trust,” he says. “It says you’re a solid business partner.” Tomer makes sure he’s on time through package tracking capabilities on UPS.com, so both he and his customers stay in the know. Barry Moat Still Keen To Buy Newcastle United
In an interview with Sky, Barry Moat says that he is again interested in buying Newcastle United and would then sell the St James’ Park name for comercial reasons to invest in players. Mark Jensen, Spokesperson for the Trust who launched our six week Yes We Can campaign last Tuesday said “We welcome any serious offers for Newcastle but this is deja-vu, we will continue our fan based campaign to make the club accountable to the city again. We’ve made approaches to Mr Moat previously and had no reply but we’re happy to speak to anyone who has the long term interests of Newcastle at heart. If he has any ideas about how he would take the club forward apart from carrying on the idea of selling the name of Saint James’ Park ‘for commercial reasons’ then once again we would happily talk. One point of immediate disagreement is the issue of re-naming the ground. We’ll be clear, under a Trust led bid there would be no change of name. We have a series of commercial ideas that don’t strip out the history of the club and would retain the integrity of Saint James’ Park”. I HOPE the depth of their contempt for Mike Ashley prompts Newcastle United fans to dig deep – albeit, mainly into their pensions – for the Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust. But I fear Ashley may have planted as big an obstacle to the NUST in people’s minds as anything else he can throw in their way from here on in. If two generations without a trophy has bred anything, it is the cynicism with which some genuine fans have greeted the NUST’s ingenious, detailed, well-argued and even better intentioned plans. Give it a chance, people. Other people’s failings do not render the NUST a hopeless cause. Dismiss it lightly, and Ashley really will have won.

Newcastle United Fans Hope To Buy Club

Newcastle United supporters have taken a huge challenge on in seeking to transform their well-worn contempt for Mike Ashley into a positive bid to take over the club themselves. The Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) launched its “Yes We Can” campaign yesterday, sending emails about the proposal to 40,000 fans - they have so many contact details partly because the petition they set up last week, following Ashley’s staggeringly ill-judged proposal to rename St James’ Park, was signed, within days, by 20,000 people. The appealing idea of supporter-ownership has been nurtured by fans at many British clubs since football’s commercialisation in the 1990s, borne partly out of the realisation that a few businessmen were making fortunes for themselves out of owning the shares in clubs. British fans became more knowledgeable about the game’s finance and structure, and awareness grew of great clubs elsewhere which are not pure businesses, but supporter-owned sporting co-operatives: true clubs. In their passionate, well-produced campaign literature, NUST make predictable, valid references to Real Madrid and Barcelona, owned by member-fans who elect a president, and to the Bundesliga, where all clubs except two are majority owned by supporters. After months of discussions with interested parties, Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) is launching the ‘Yes We Can’ Campaign which aims to raise funds to lead a fans buy out at St James’ Park. The Trust will be revealing partners over the coming days but has in place a buy out structure led by local firms and renowned names in the financial world. The Trust is mailing out to over 40,000 supporters to ask them if and how they want to buy into the campaign to lead a city-wide bid to buy back the club. There are a number of ways supporters can buy into the model which has been dubbed by the financial community as the ‘Barcelona on the Tyne’ which would see a ‘democratisation’ of the club to ensure that the current state of the club would not be repeated.
